Social Power

There are five types of Social Power. 1) Reward Power 2) Coercive Power 3) Referent Power 4) Export Power and 5) Legitimate Power. When I first read the word power I immediately thought the kinds of powers that are reward and coercive power. I never thought of any other of the other powers. I did not realize that they were really involved in the work place. Yet, they are, and now that I know they are involved I see where it applied in the organizations that I have been involved in. It never occurred to me that all of these powers had terms and I never thought of powers as a process in the work place.
