Virtual or Real Communication

I believe that all communication is real. Even if we communicate virtually it is still real.. Although when we communicate virtually there is more room for misunderstandings. I have done a lot of group projects and because of too much virtual communication there was some misunderstandings with in the group and things got a little confusing. Therefore although virtual communication is very helpful it can not be the only way of communication there has to be virtual and face-to-face communication for things to work out.

Bejeweled, your group project scenario speaks so well to the confusion that virtual communication may cause. For example, if everyone is in the same room and takes turn speaking face-to-face, we can generally tell who said what first and in response to who/what just by being there. A virtual atmosphere provides a name, date, and time stamp, but if multiple issues are in discussion, and if the respondent does not specify which issue he/she is answering to, it would be confusing.
